I found 1q84 to be super addictive, too; finished it in a week and almost got into trouble at work for it. The only author that had a similar effect on me was Stieg Larsson, who doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence as these other two, but to me is the literary equivalent of crack cocaine.

Sorry Never Let Me Go didn't work for you. I took my time with that one, but only because I was loving it and didn't want it to end. I'm like that sometimes.
